Delta 8 vs Delta 10 What's the Difference - Coastal Hemp Co

At this point most of us are familiar with CBD and THC, but did you know there are different forms of THC? And that not all of them provide the same effects? And that some of them are legal in most states? We are here to bring you all of that good news and explain a little bit more about the different kinds of THC available and how they each compare and differ from each other.

Delta 8 Delta 10 What you need to know

When talking about cannabis, many use the terms THC and ‘weed’ or marijuana interchangeably when referring to the natural plant that gets you ‘high’. But what most people do not realize is that there is more than just one form of THC.

What is THC?

Tetrahydrocannabinol, THC, is one of over 100 known cannabinoids found within the cannabis plant. It’s main claim to fame are its psychoactive properties which provide a euphoric feeling when consumed, leading to the feeling of being ‘high’. While it is not legal across the entire United States, it is becoming more widely accepted and legalized in many states.

How does THC Work?

Cannabinoids like THC and CBD work within the body’s naturally occurring endocannabinoid system. This part of the body is responsible for basic functions such as sleep, memory, mood, and appetite, among other things.

The Endocannabinoid System has naturally occurring cannabinoid receptors that interact with neurotransmitters sending signals to the nervous system. THC closely resembles the endogenous neurotransmitter, anandamide. Anandamide influences pleasure, memory, thinking, concentration, movement, coordination, as well as sensory and time perception.

Since THC binds to these same receptors, it is able to provide the common euphoric feelings that users have come to know and love. However, there is more than just one kind of THC, each with its own unique attributes.

The most common form of THC that most are very familiar with is Delta 9. This strain has the typical psychoactive properties that is attributed with smoking marijunana. Users often feel feelings of euphoria.

What is Delta 8 THC

While historically Delta 9 has been the most common form of THC, Delta 8 has been quickly growing in popularity. This can mostly be attributed to its legalization with the passing of the US Farm Bill in 2018, along with its mild psychoactive properties.

When taking Delta 8 THC, you can expect to experience:

  • A feeling of calm
  • Improved mood
  • Energized
  • Motivated
  • Improved sleep
  • Increased sex drive
  • Increased appetite
  • Reduces nausea
  • Reduced aches and pains

You may notice that many of those attributes are similar to Delta 9, and you would be right. Users of Delta 8 THC report experiencing very similar feelings between the two, but with Delta 8 providing a much more manageable, milder ‘high’.

What is Delta 10 THC

Delta 10 is a strain of THC that is found in very scarce quantities within both the hemp and marijuana plant. While Delta 10 is not legal when derived from a marijuana plant, it is legal if sourced from hemp or made within a laboratory setting.

Because it is found in such trace amounts in nature, most Delta 10 you may come into contact with has been produced in a controlled laboratory setting making it perfectly legal in any state that legalized CBD usage with the passing of the Farm Bill in 2018.

What is the Difference Between Delta 8 Delta 10?

While both Delta 8 and Delta 10 produce a mild high with no paranoid side effects, they each offer slightly different ‘highs’. According to some users, Delta 10 produces more of an energetic, creative high that is ideal for daytime use; while Delta 8 tends to offer a more mellow high that induces a more relaxed feeling making it great for evening or as a sleep aid.
